They say you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. That’s because you don’t know what you might find. That horse you were just given could be a hundred years old. But with the winter jumper circuit in full swing, Emily is competing both Bluebird and Socks so there is hardly time to do anything but ride. Since her win at the Winter Wonderland show she’s been getting a lot of attention. Attention that makes all the other Fox Run girls jealous. Emily thought the barn was her safe place. She thought no one could hurt her there but bullying can happen in the safest of places and it’s hard to stand up for yourself when you feel like you are all alone.

Although I am a bit “long in the tooth” for these YA books, I have come to absolutely love them. Why? Because they take me back to when I was young and crazy about horses. ( which I have always been and will always be). They are fun, easy reads following a young girl by the name of Emily Dickenson, her friends, her ponies and her family. They are just a delight how they flow into each other. How bad things happen and then good things. How everything seems to work itself out and along the way, Emily changes and learns about what is important in life. ( Well, besides horses which are obviously THE most important things in a young girls life!)Everytime I read another one ( and I have them ALL!), it makes me warm and fuzzy. LOL They are like having a cupcake after having to eat “Kale” with some of the much heavier books I read as a reviewer and as an adult. I have decided not to list and do each one separately as they are very, very similar but with different horses and people but the same, good, bad and occasionally ugly situations that pretty much come out right. I hope Claire writes them until Emily is married with children of her own! ;<)!

It was awesome! I felt the roller coaster of depression and giving up with this book, just as Emily felt. At the end I felt all relief and happiness, as Emily did. Overall, it's a great book.
I liked this book. Left me wanting to read the next one.
Love these books by Claire Svendsen. She knows horses and teens. They are true to life. and, there's so many of them.
Yep, I just love catching up with what Emily and her friends (and not her friends) are getting up to. Another great book in the saga of Emily!
Nice clean story line that catches the reader's attention, holds it to the last page and leaves them wanting more!
Emily named her Hurricane horse Arion & stood up to her bully with the support of her family. She is about to start Virtual School & will be able to spend her days concentrating on her riding career with the support of those around her. How will she get on training Arion and of course what adventures will she have with her beloved pony Bluebird ...
I did read this book from cover to cover. A little way into it I realized this author's books are probably aimed toward adolescents who love horses but since I was enjoying reading it I completed the book. I have been involved with the horse world all my life and anything pertaining to the world of horses is entertaining for me. I do not plan to read more of this author's books but I feel she is on the level of Walter Farley whose books I devoured as an adolescent.
